Terms of Service

Plain language.
No surprises.

What Mentora is

Mentora is a free, browser-based AI tutoring application powered by Google's Gemini API. It is provided as-is, without warranty or guarantee of availability. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time.

Mentora is a learning tool, not a substitute for professional academic guidance, medical advice, legal counsel, or any other licensed professional service. Always verify important information independently.

Acceptable use

You may use Mentora to support genuine learning. You agree not to:

Academic integrity

Mentora is designed to help you learn — not to do your work for you. The tutors are built around Socratic questioning specifically to guide understanding rather than provide answers to copy.

We encourage responsible use that is consistent with your institution's academic integrity policies. You are responsible for how you use the content generated in your sessions.

Intellectual property

The Mentora application, its design, and its code are our property. The AI-generated responses produced during your sessions are generated in real-time and not owned by us — however, they are subject to Google's Gemini API usage policies.

You retain ownership of any original content you submit (your questions, notes, uploaded files). By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to process it solely for the purpose of generating responses.

Accuracy of AI responses

Mentora's tutors are powered by large language models and may occasionally produce responses that are incorrect, incomplete, or outdated. AI systems can hallucinate — generating plausible-sounding but factually wrong answers.

Disclaimer of warranties

Mentora is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the service is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Mentora, including but not limited to loss of data, academic penalties, or reliance on AI-generated content.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use it — which is zero, since Mentora is free.

Third-party services

Mentora relies on third-party services including Google Gemini, Google Fonts, and cdnjs. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or privacy practices of these services. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience only.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Mentora after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
